Runes are ancient symbols that show the energies flowing in your life. Those energies create a pattern that affects your daily life. The photo above shows my Rune book: Before There Were Words: An Energetic Perspective of Runes, along with a wooden Rune set I made.

The books are available on Amazon. The Rune sets are available from me on request. Rune sets are $20 each plus shipping and include a one-page Rune summary and a one-page wood energy summary describing the specific energies of the wood used in that set.

Payment for Rune sets or readings is via PayPal or if you are local, cash, check or credit card.

A basic Rune reading has three Runes: Past, Present and Future.

I offer 3-Rune Readings for $30, 7 Rune Readings or Chakra Rune readings for $45.

7 Rune readings include:

Past

Present

Future

Underlying energy (a catalyst or reason for the other Rune energies to exist in your life)

Challenge

Outcome and

Confirmation (a hint of what the next cycle will be like).

Chakra Rune Readings: 1 Rune for each chakra. We can look at basic chakra energies at birth, or current energies in each chakra.

Basic Weekly Rune Readings

Another basic 3-Rune reading would be for a week, where the first Rune is the beginning of the week, the second is the middle of the week and the third is the end of the week.

Elder and Younger FUTHARK

I use the Younger FUTHARK when I read Runes. There is some controversy over this. The Elder FUTHARK contains 24 Runes. The Younger contains 25 Runes. The Younger FUTHARK includes the Blank Rune, Odin. The Elder FUTHARK does not contain Odin since the concept of zero was not understood when Runes first began being used.  I believe the concept of zero, or ultimate trust, contained in the Blank Rune is important, so I use the Younger FUTHARK set of Runes.

FUTHARK stands for the first 6 Runes:

F: Fehu–Success.Fulfillment

U: Uruz–Strength

TH: Thurisaz–Odin’s Strength that enables Gates to open

A: Ansuz–Intution, Signals from the Cosmos

R: Raido–Communikcation

K: Kano: Clarity

Rune Chart

My husband, Michael, made an excellent Rune chart, including the Upright and Reversed energies of the Runes. A copy is below.

Embedded Energies

As I wrote my book, I realized that in the description of the Runes, other energies were hinted at. For example, Hagalaz, Rune of Disruption, contains the shape of Uruz, Rune of Strength.

 Hagalaz  Uruz

You can see that Uruz shows  up in the Upright and Reversed positions in Hagalaz. So we need to consider that the energy of Strength is affected by the disruptive energy of Hagalaz.

Here is a list of the Runes, including the embedded energies:

All Runes contain embedded energies except three: Isa, Kano and Odin.

Free General Weekly Rune Readings

Each week I post a 3-Rune reading on my Facebook page, along with a picture of the Runes pulled. The timeframe is Sunday through Saturday, with Sunday being the first day of the week.

Below is the Rune reading for October 8 – 14, 2023:

The Rune energy that came up for the beginning of the week is Hagalaz, Rune of Disruption and Sudden Change. Hagalaz is also the energy of Freedom, Liberation and Invention. So, just because plans might suddenly shift or systems that were working suddenly snag, does not mean you have no options. Use your intuition, wisdom, experience and cleverness to discover new ways of dealing with any challenges.
Use the embedded Isa energy of Contemplation to carefully consider all aspects of any challenges that arise. Use the embedded Uruz energy of Strength (in both Upright and Reversed positions) to determine how best to use your energy to respond to challenges.
The Rune energy that came up for the middle of the week is Laguz, Rune of Abundant LIfeforce energy, Reversed. When Laguz is Reversed, your energy reserves might be low. That could be as a result of having to figure out how to deal with the challenges at the beginning of the week. Laguz asks you to be aware of your energy levels and use your energy wisely. Flow with the currents of your life, even if they are moving more slowly than you are used to.
Use the embedded Isa energy of Contemplation to carve out a quiet space for reflection and recouperation. Let any muddy energies settle before moving forward once more.
The Rune energy that came up for the end of the week is Othila, Rune of Inheritance and Energetic Boundaries. Othila reminds you not to hold onto aspects of this life too tightly. If you notice things that you just don’t use much any more or that have outlived their usefulness, let them go. Othilia sends blessings as we release things, ideas and beliefs, to fill the spaces the releasing creates.
Use the embedded Isa energy of Contemplation to consider what you need to let go of. Use the embedded Gebo energy of Partnership to evaluate your partnerships, including how each affects your energy. Make adjustments where necessary, including dissolving or adjusting any partnership that is sapping your energy. Use the embedded Kano energy of Clarity to determine which changes are most important to make at this time.
Have a great week, everyone!
